Recruiting Junior Attorneys

A Holistic Approach to Legal Recruiting

The traditional law firm recruiting process, which focuses on one year of law school performance at a small number of law schools, fails to identify additional high-quality talent, particularly from first generation law students and those from nontraditional backgrounds. If we want to bring innovation to the law, we must improve the way we evaluate candidates during and after law school.

Our Recruiting Process:

  • Rigorously vets candidates to assess whether they can succeed in top-tier law firms and legal departments
  • Evaluates law school performance over three years of performance
  • Utilizes writing exercises and data analytics as indicators of success
  • Employs more than 40 years of recruiting experience during interviews and evaluations

Law School Partnerships

We recruit from top 25 law schools and strong state, regional, and Historically Black College and University (HBCU) law schools across the country.

Interview Process

We engage and interview candidates on campus over the course of an entire year. We get to know our candidates’ personalities, in addition to their legal and professional skills, before we make our hiring decisions.

Problem Solving

Candidates are asked to address an anonymized complex legal problem from an actual case. This helps us evaluate their analytical and writing skills.

Data Analytics

We use data analytics to determine indicators of success for junior attorneys in Big Law, assisting in creating equity in the recruiting process.
